Every day begins the same: I go to the clubhouse first thing to read the schedule posted on the wall outside, which shows where each player will be working out that day. I'd ask the Globe reporters who they're focusing on and walk to one of the six-plus fields to shoot. I'm trying to file away as many images as possible in my 12 days there that we can publish in the run up to Opening Day on March 27.

I rely on the reporters to tell me what's going on, in addition to reading our stories and keeping up on MLB news. I also rely on security guards and "peripheral" people to clue me in. It's in my nature to be friendly with everyone, but especially those people with whom I like to spend some time.

They're the ones who told me Alex Bregman was showing up a day earlier than anticipated, when exactly owner John Henry (who's also my boss) would be arriving, and if a free agent was just dropped off in an Uber. They're also the ones with the best recommendations for grouper tacos and margaritas. (Shout out to Wendie who sent me to the Lighthouse Tiki Bar.)

As a new-ish staff photographer at the Globe, I still hadn't met many of the Red Sox public relations staff. Face time is crucial, and as the only Boston newspaper photographer in Fort Myers, it's more important than ever.

My favorite thing about spring training? Seeing the players in a more relaxed environment compared to the regular season at Fenway. They were visibly happy to be back working out together, which was really cool to see. My least favorite thing? Well, I'm not going to sit here and complain about Groundhog Day. I missed two snowstorms back in New England and I get to do what I love.
