Traditionally, the first practice day of August marked the start of the high school football season.
But those days have changed.
"It's like fall camp is almost like a continuation of spring and summer," Camas head coach Adam Mathieson said. "It never really stops."
That process began almost three months ago, with the start of spring practices in June. It continued through the summer with team camps, 7-on-7 drills, weightlifting and summer conditioning.
Columbian reporter Meg Wochnick captured some of the flavor and insight of the summer football schedule in her video series "Dog Days," which followed the summer schedule of three local programs.
