Still not correct: Ford issues more recalls for issues to fix two previous recalls

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Ford Motor Company is conducting recalls for hundreds of thousands of vehicles to address previous repairs that were done incorrectly.

Ford has recalled 2,711 Maverick pickups from model years 2022-2024 due to a defect that may cause the rear taillights to fail. This recall follows a previous one where some vehicles were incorrectly marked as repaired in Ford's records.

The defect involves the body control module (BCM), which may inadvertently deactivate one or both rear taillights, reducing the vehicle's visibility to other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. Ford has stated that it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Another recall of 1,635 vehicles is due to rear turn signals that may not activate.

Ford explained that the problems can be resolved with a software update, but Maverick trucks do not receive over-the-air updates. Therefore, owners must bring their vehicles to a dealer for the necessary repairs. By law, these recall repairs are provided at no cost to the vehicle owners.

Ford is also recalling 272,817 SUVs, including the 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Ford Maverick, due to concerns that a 12-volt battery defect could cause the vehicles to lose power while driving.

There is also a rearview camera issue for requiring a recall for 91,580 SUVs and pickup trucks. That camera may fail to show an image, limiting visibility while in reverse.
