Come the 2026 collegiate baseball season, Jack Jones will be a pitcher in the Cal State Northridge baseball program. Come the 2026 collegiate softball season, Teagan Thompson will be an outfielder in the Bryant University softball program.
Jones signed with Cal State Northridge, and Thompson went with Bryant University in a signing ceremony for the Lompoc seniors at Lompoc High High School Wednesday. Wednesday was National Signing Day.
Cal State Northridge and Bryant University are both NCAA Division 1 athletic programs. Bryant University is a small, private university in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
Jones and Thompson both said their respective schools of choice gave them good scholarship packages, with most costs paid for.
"I talked to some other schools, but Bryant University was the most straightforward. It gave me the most clear view," said Thompson.
"I talked with the coaches and others there, and I felt at home. I felt it was a place I could enjoy."
Both thanked their families and coaches during the ceremony.

Thompson has established herself as an outfielder who can hit for power at Bryant. Meanwhile, the left-handed Jones is one of the top pitchers on the Central Coast.
Jones helped lead Lompoc to the 2024 Sunset League championship. He was 8-2 with a 1.63 ERA and was the Sunset League Pitcher of the Year.
Cal State Northridge is a nationally established baseball program, and the Matadors went 30-24 last year. However, Jones said other factors went into him deciding to go with Northridge.
"I verbally committed there my junior year," he said. "When I went on my visity, I loved the coaching staff and got a good vibe from the place. The housing was really nice, and the coaches stayed in contact with me.
"I'm confident I can break into the pitching lineup there," Jones said.
Thompson will major in kinesiology and exercise science at Bryant. Jones said he was undecided as to a major.
"I'm talking with my counselor and my family as to what would be the best fit for me as a major," Jones said.
