Petra Kvitová ended her professional tennis career after a tough loss at the US Open on Monday. The two-time Wimbledon champion lost 1-6, 0-6 to France's Diane Parry in the first round. Kvitová, who had announced her retirement ahead of the tournament, bowed out after just 52 minutes on court.
Over her successful career, Kvitová claimed Wimbledon titles in 2011 and 2014, an Olympic bronze medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, and six Fed Cup (now Billie Jean King Cup) triumphs. She reached a career-high ranking of world No. 2 and played in 62 Grand Slam events.
