'Alien: Earth' welcomes new creatures that could rival the terror of the infamous Xenomorph

LOS ANGELES -- The Xenomorph is back, this time accompanied by an entirely new set of terrifying creatures.

FX's new series "Alien: Earth" introduces audiences not only to the classic alien but also to a fresh lineup of horrors.

According to the cast and creator, Noah Hawley, viewers should prepare for something even more unsettling than before.

The story follows a mysterious ship that crash-lands on Earth, prompting a young woman and a ragtag group of soldiers to investigate the wreckage in search of survivors. What they discover onboard is anything but human.

"Five different life forms from the darkest corner of the universe. Monsters," warns Morrow, played by Babou Ceesay.

On The Red Carpet caught up with the cast and Hawley to get a sense of the terror audiences can expect and how to prepare for it.

"Please watch it with someone," Ceesay advised.

"There's almost a bit of humor involved with just how disturbing they've been able to make these creatures," said Sydney Chandler, one of the stars.

"There's a longevity to the deaths that may or may not occur. These creatures really enjoy taking their time."

"My goal in creating these four other creatures was really to complement the Xenomorph in many ways, but also to try and give audiences the same discovery process that's no longer available to us with the Xenomorph," said showrunner Noah Hawley.

In the original "Alien" films, the Xenomorph famously begins as a face-hugger that latches onto a host, followed by the unforgettable chest-bursting scene. "Alien: Earth" builds on that lore with new life cycles and unexpected forms of feeding.

"They're all pretty special," joked Timothy Olyphant, describing them with a laugh.

"It was a stroke of brilliance that Noah came up with those and knew to come up with those and was bold enough to do that."

The cast also features Alex Lawther, Lily Newmark, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin and Sandra Yi Sencindiver.

The first two episodes of "Alien: Earth" premiere August 12 on FX, Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ with new episodes releasing weekly.
