ASUS Teases ROG RTX 5090 Matrix, Featuring Circular Shroud On The End With Infinity Mirror RGB Lighting

ASUS is preparing a new ROG Matrix design for the GeForce RTX 5090 as teased in a short video. The GPU boasts a shroud and RGB unlike any other edition.

While not entirely new to ASUS, the new ROG Matrix Edition teased by ASUS does appear to boast a completely different design than its predecessor. ASUS has various editions for the GeForce RTX 5090, a lot of them being premium like the ROG Strix and ROG Astral, which usually sell for much higher than GPUs from other vendors. We also saw the actual 5kg Gold Astral RTX 5090, valued at over $500K.

However, this won't be as expensive for sure, but it's definitely not going to be listed for any less than $3000, considering the current pricing trends for the GeForce RTX 5090. In a new teaser video on Facebook, ASUS ROG shared its new design, allegedly for the RTX 5090. Usually, the ROG Matrix edition is reserved for the flagship offerings; therefore, it's unlikely that it's anything other than the RTX 5090.

The video shows the part where we can see the shroud ending with a circular design. The shroud here is much bigger than the rest of the GPU, giving more space for custom design, which in this case brings the Infinity Mirror design showcasing the ROG branding, which is likely customizable. The second fan could be seen as well, but it's not very visible. The third fan might appear somewhat larger, but, analyzing carefully, it is equal in size to the other two fans (take a close look at the fan blades).

Nonetheless, this appears to be an air-cooled GPU, unlike the ROG Matrx RTX 4090, which was equipped with an AIO cooling solution. So, the designs on both are completely different, but the newer design takes inspiration from the ROG Matrix RTX 2080 Ti, the flagship Turing card. That card also had the Infinity Mirror design on the shroud, but even though it looks like an air-cooled card, it also featured a built-in AIO cooling solution, eliminating any need for mounting the radiator inside the case. So, it's possible that the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 also brings an AIO cooler.

The GPU should be officially announced soon and should target a high boost clock out of the box, and PCB tailored to unlock even higher frequencies through manual overclocking/
