Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Wednesday mocked AAP govt's claim of having a "power cut free" Punjab, asking whether it added any extra unit to the existing power generation capacity of the state.Warring said AAP's claims did not even materialise into schemes, but were limited to slogans. "Ensuring a power-cut free state means extra generation of power, and for that, you need extra power plants," he pointed out, while asking, "which new power project has AAP installed in the state?"He said even GVK Power Plant that the AAP govt makes so much hue and cry about was already existing in the state and generating power. "It only went from the private to the govt sector," he added.Reacting to the 'Roshan Punjab' project launched by the chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann along with the AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Warring remarked, "this is a characteristic repackaging policy of the AAP like old wine in new bottles."The PCC President posed a direct question to both Mann and Kejriwal, asking them whether their govt added one single extra unit to the existing power generation capacity in the state.He maintained that successive govts in Punjab prior to the AAP consistently added to the power generation capacity in the state. He pointed out that Punjab was a power surplus state long ago. "Yes, the AAP inefficiency did lead to long power cuts during the last four years," he noted, while adding that now the AAP was trying to make bogus claims at the fag end of its tenure. "It is like issuing a blank cheque against a crashing bank," he remarked, while pointing out that by next year, the deadline set by the AAP for "power cut free Punjab," its countdown would already have started.
