McAdenville is mourning the loss of its town mayor.
Officials say Jim Robinette has passed away at the age of 80. He served as mayor since 2016. Prior to being mayor, he served in the United States Army and served the town on its Planning Board or Town Council for nearly 20 years.
"Mayor Robinette was dedicated to McAdenville and the wellbeing of its residents. Having lived in the town for over 45 years, he knew its history and traditions," Mayor Pro-Tem Reid Washam said. "More than that, he respected that history and tradition. He was respected by the community as evidenced by his appointment, election and reelections.
"The town of McAdenville has lost an irreplaceable Town official and friend."
A McAdenville spokesperson highlighted many of Robinette's accomplishments, including the purchase and repurposing of a historic property in McAdenville's Town Hall, the construction of McAdenville Greenway Park, and the completion of the South Fork Sewer Project.
Robinette will be laid to rest Wednesday at Gaston Memorial Park.
