Gym users have spoken of their worry after a man collapsed in a Huddersfield gym and needed urgent medical attention. Members of Gym Group on Huddersfield's Ringway Industrial Estate said they were asked to leave yesterday afternoon due to a medical emergency.

Two Yorkshire Ambulance Service ambulances and a rapid response vehicle attended the gym off Beck Lane just after 3.30pm. A gym member, who asked not to be named, said he understood a man at the gym had been receiving CPR after collapsing in the weights section.

"We were told it would be a few hours until it reopened and not to wait around," he said. A spokesman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said one patient had been taken to hospital.

In a statement, they confirmed: "We received an emergency call at 3.33pm yesterday (30 September) to report a medical incident at a premises on Beck Road in Huddersfield. Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to hospital."

The current condition of the patient has not been disclosed. Yorkshire Live has approached Gym Group for comment.
