'It's a great community event that's always very well-attended. I think everybody looks forward to it at this time of year,' Mayor Robb Noon said
Cranberry fans, indulge your berry love this Saturday - Callander's Cranberry Day returns.
Since launching in 2011, the annual tradition is always well-attended, with people coming out for a day of cranberry picking, delicious treats, local vendors, children's activities, and live music. Admission is free; however, many vendors accept cash only, so plan accordingly.
Callander's Mayor, Robb Noon, said, "It's a great community event that's always very well-attended. I think everybody looks forward to it at this time of year. Hopefully the weather is good."
So far, Mother Nature is cooperating, as the forecast for Saturday afternoon is a sunny 25 degrees.

The event takes place along the Cranberry Trail, which is at the end of Cranberry Road in Callander. Note that parking is limited near the trail, and people are encouraged to park at the Callander Community Centre at 1984 Swale Street. Free shuttle buses will be available there to take you to the trail. There is plenty of free parking at the Community Centre, and the shuttles will be leaving frequently throughout the day.
"The shuttles have been working out very well," Noon said. "It's so convenient for people, and it really cuts down on the congestion near the Cranberry Trail."
Note that the Cranberry Trail is just under two and a half kilometers, so you may want to bring your walking stick. Mayor Noon mentioned there will be a couple of golf carts riding the trail to help folks who might need a lift.
Cranberry Day is Saturday, October 4 and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
