Spartans opening matchup in Big Ten Tournament is now finalized

We now know who Michigan State basketball will play in its Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals matchup on Friday.

The Spartans will play No. 8 seed Oregon in Friday's quarterfinals matchup of the Big Ten Tournament. Oregon beat No. 9 seed Indiana in Thurday's second round matchup from the conference tournament by the final score of 72-59.

During the regular season, Michigan State overcame a double-digit deficit to knock off Oregon in early February. This was the first game Jase Richardson started for the Spartans, and was the beginning of a strong finish of the year for Michigan State. The Spartans won eight of their final nine games, which started with the win over Oregon.

That meeting between the Spartans and Ducks was also the last time Oregon lost. The Ducks have won eight straight games since that loss at the Breslin Center. This will be the first-ever meeting between Michigan State and Oregon in the Big Ten Tournament.

Tip off between the Spartans and Ducks is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on Friday. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
