Charles Emil Heidtke

January 10, 1947 -- July 9, 2025

Charles ("Chuck") E. Heidtke, 78, of St. Paul, MN died peacefully on July 9, 2025, at Episcopal Homes in St. Paul. Chuck was born on January 10, 1947, in Chippewa Falls, WI to Edwin and Joyce Heidtke. He is survived by his brother Edwin Heidtke (Kathleen) of Jim Falls, WI, sister-in-law Carol Heidtke of Waterloo, WI, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Heidtke, and his niece Rhonda Heidtke. He was employed 27 years by International Paper Company.

Chuck forged a life that was unique to him which was rich in human relationships and a wide variety of great adventures. In his 20's he traveled to Brazil on three occasions and once to Sierra Leone for a Peace Corps training. These experiences enriched Chuck's life and opened him up to meeting people from different cultures.

He could be very creative, and his artwork pieces show just how talented he could be. He pioneered a genealogy dig for his family tree spending hours and many visits to the Historical Society, collecting timeline data, old photos and stories. He ultimately made copies of all his findings putting them in folders and gave them to family members.

Chuck's kind and persistent nature helped him to build a network of deep friendships, which included both newer and decades-long friends. He thoughtfully remembered birthdays and special occasions. Chuck received great joy from giving. As a final gift, Chuck donated his body to science to the University of Wisconsin Stout.

His spiritual life helped to feed his spirit, and various churches and spiritual communities were a great solace for him. Through sharing his spirit, Chuck touched so many of us along the way.

A Memorial Mass for Chuck will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2131 Fairview Ave N, Roseville, MN 55113 on Thursday, August 14th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation (without a body) will be at 10 a.m. Lunch will follow.
