Next Man Up: Jonathan Brooks to Replace Miles Sanders

The Carolina Panthers made a significant roster move Saturday, placing running back Miles Sanders on injured reserve due to an ankle injury suffered in the second quarter of their pre-bye game in Germany. Sanders, who has 38 carries for 139 yards and a touchdown this season, will miss at least four weeks, leaving a void in the Panthers' backfield.

A Tough Blow for the Panthers' Backfield

Sanders' injury comes at a critical time. Despite a slow start to the season, his presence added versatility to the offense. His lone touchdown, scored during the Panthers' Week 3 win over Las Vegas, highlighted his ability to find gaps in tough defensive lines. With Sanders sidelined, the team will lean heavily on Chuba Hubbard, Raheem Blackshear, and rookie Jonathan Brooks.

Brooks, a second-round draft pick, is set to make his much-anticipated NFL debut. Head coach Dave Canales expressed confidence in Brooks, stating, "He's been involved with the plan, and he looks confident... I'm excited to get him out there this week." Brooks' strong showing in practice this week has Panthers fans eager to see what the rookie can deliver.

To fill Sanders' roster spot, Carolina signed wide receiver Deven Thompkins to the active roster. With Adam Thielen expected to return from a hamstring injury, Thompkins offers additional depth as the team adjusts.
