RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) -- A local nonprofit is spinning hope one load at a time, using laundry to connect with some of the most vulnerable women in the community.
Tuesday afternoon, Lighthouse PBC held a laundromat pop-up outreach event in Riviera Beach.
Volunteers set up chairs and signs that read: "If you're a woman living a life you never wanted to live and a place you never wanted to be, we will do your laundry for you."
Lighthouse PBC Founder Becky Dymond says in many ways it's a lifeline and a way to help women facing addiction, prostitution or homelessness.
"It's serving a felt need and it creates an opportunity to build community," Dymond said. "Victims are helpless, hopeless and powerless, but you're only a victim for as long as you embrace that idea."

Women brought bags of dirty laundry and in return were asked to sit and have a chat.
Lindsay Owens is a trafficking survivor and volunteer and plays a huge role in connecting with the women in crisis, something she says comes easily.
"Having the ability to speak to somebody who's not judging you, who's offering a hand that's not going to either slap you in a few minutes of down the road and not going to retreat from trying to help," Owens said. "Just having the ability to communicate that it just opens the door."
Women were offered snacks, toiletries, detox and rehab opportunities. Dymond said, even if victims choose not to leave their situation that day, building a relationship will allow them to feel comfortable reaching out in the future.
So far, approximately 225 victims have become survivors through the laundromat pop-up events.
Lighthouse PBC hosts the pop-ups at three different locations and are in need of volunteers and donations.
