Sony has fixed the entitlement issue that was preventing previous owners from claiming new Resident Evil classics for free without PS Plus. PS5, PS4 versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis were added to the Premium catalog yesterday, but previous owners were being prompted to purchase the games again.
If you owned any of the two classics on platforms like PS3 or PS Vita, you are entitled to a free PS5, PS4 copy. There are no regional restrictions on the free downloads, so if you're sure that you owned the games before and are still being prompted to purchase, we advise contacting Sony.
Alternatively, players can attempt to claim the games via the PS App rather than the console store or the web store. Don't ask us why, but sometimes the app just works when the other two methods fail.
While this resolves one of the disappointments fans ran into yesterday, the issue of Capcom not bothering to add trophies to its classics remains. Unfortunately, we don't think Sony has managed to sway Capcom, so we doubt things will change on that front.
