Putting SOSA to Work - Getting the Most from the Technical Standard Part I: Blind Mate Optical and Coax Connectivity and Plug-in Card Cooling Strategies

Summary

This webinar is the first in a series of deep-dives into the SOSA Technical Standard, how to best leverage it for practical applications. Here, we will examine two technical aspects of the SOSA technical standard.

SOSA defines a concise set of Connector Modules, methodologies for populating channels, and application-based channel mapping. In this session, Mark Littlefield, director of system products for Elma Electronic, will look at how the standard utilizes VITA 66.5 and VITA 67.3 for blind-mate optical and coaxial connectivity. This review should give the viewer a running start at how best to leverage the technical standard when it comes to this important feature.

In the The SOSA Technical specification defines specific cooling methods for Plug-In-Cards. Nino Addamo, product marketing manager for Concurrent, will discuss the various cooling strategies addressed in the technical standard. We will compare and contrast the alternatives based on the power challenges and performance requirements that payload devices present.
