This preview was going to go one of two ways depending on how Wednesday night's match against St. John's ended up. On paper, that looked like a situation where Marquette women's soccer should have been able to win, and perhaps win easily if things broke right for them. One way or another, the Golden Eagles needed to make the on paper projection work out for them because they came into the contest at 0-0-2 in Big East action. They had to frantically rally to draw with Butler and then caught a bad break in a draw with Creighton, and so grabbing hold of a seemingly obvious chance for a win, no matter the process to end up with three points, seemed like a pretty big deal for head coach Chris Allen and his charges.
