Tolkien. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is streaming on HBO Max globally, where it's still charting in the top 10 in several countries, such as Australia, Armenia, and Kazakhstan. The film earned immaculate scores of 92% from critics and 95% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it also found tremendous financial success, grossing $889 million globally against a $93 million budget.
Sir Christopher Lee, who stars in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring as Saruman, read The Lord of the Rings once a year until his tragic passing in 2015. He's also the only member of the star-studded cast to meet J.R.R. Tolkien, who passed away more than 50 years ago in 1973. Other than Lee as Saruman, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring also stars Elijah Wood as Frodo, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Sean Bean as Boromir, Andy Serkis as Gollum, Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, and more.
