Holloway considers banning item as he identifies two areas Town must improve

Ian Holloway outlined the two key things that he believes Swindon Town need to improve upon to continue their promotion charge.

15 matches into the League Two season, Swindon are second in League Two and only goal difference separates them and Walsall at the top of the table.

However, it is a very tight division this year, with three points separating Notts County in the last automatic promotion place and Chesterfield in tenth, and a small patch of form could see a vast change in league position.

Ahead of Swindon's 4-0 win against Milton Keynes Dons in the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday night, Holloway said that he was looking forward to playing in an emptier stadium as he would be able to hear his players' communication more easily.

When asked after the game if he got what he wanted from the experience, Holloway said that it remained far below the level that he desired.

He said: "[Their communication] is still nowhere as good as mine or Biggie's [Marcus Bignot] or Gav's [Gavin Gunning] or Mildy's [Steve Mildenhall].

"Maybe I should take their phones off them, because I could hear them tonight, but who could you hear more?

"Talking and encouraging the person who has got the ball, I thought we did that brilliantly tonight."

Holloway also added that he believes his team need to get their discipline in check after losing two key players to suspensions.

Aaron Drinan is serving a three-match suspension for his red card for violent conduct, and Finley Munroe has picked up five bookings in League Two this season, leaving him with a one-game ban.

Tom Nichols is sitting on four yellow cards and must avoid getting another one during the next four games to avoid getting a ban of his own.

The former Blackpool boss said that this was something that they need to get under control if they are to continue thriving this season.

He said: "I've got a look at who else I've got, what I can do down that left-hand side without Finn, because he's suspended.

"It was a stupid booking, as I didn't think he needed to make that tackle.

"It's all sort of self-brought upon at the moment where we got to sort that discipline out. Fil Mabete got a slack one [against MK Dons]. We can't make these mistakes.

"I'm a little bit upset with that, and I'm not getting booked on the side, am I? I'm trying to lead the right way."
