A "successful" turtle hatching season came to a close as the sixth and last turtle nest of 2025 completed hatching with a total of 62 turtles making their way out to sea.
The hatching at Ramla L-Ħamra in Gozo concludes the season as all nests across three beaches have now fully hatched.
A total of 319 hatchlings have been recorded by the Environment and Resources Authority.
"This turtle season has been a successful one with a substantial number of confirmed nests," ERA said in a social media post, adding it was thanks to the dedication of the ERA officers and Nature Trust Malta volunteers who protected the nests throughout the summer.
There was one nest at Ġnejna which resulted in 79 turtles. The nest at Għadira hatched 22 while four nests at Ramla in Gozo hatched a total of 218 turtles.
