San Marcos softball got contributions from up and down its lineup en route to a 12-0 mercy-rule win over Hueneme on Saturday.
The Royals have now won their past two games by a combined score of 23-0 heading into Tuesday's Channel League opener where they will host Rio Mesa at 3 p.m.
Kayla Aguilar stayed hot at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, three runs scored and her second homer in as many days.
Jess Vega also supplied a long ball for San Marcos while driving in two and scoring three runs of her own. Riley Zant, Lucy Dessert, Isa Malarkey and Solana Sandoval all drove in runs as well.
Dessert cruised through the first three frames, holding Hueneme hitless while striking out six. Caroline Wang took over and struck out five batters while allowing just one hit in the final two innings of play.
The Chargers made the trip up to Santa Maria and suffered losses to Clovis and Righetti in a doubleheader on Saturday.
Dos Pueblos' day began with a 4-3 loss to Clovis in 12 innings before dropping a 2-1 matchup with Righetti.
In the extra-inning loss to Clovis, Charger pitcher Juliana Brunner threw all 12 innings.
"Julianna showed a lot of guts inning by inning to shut them down and the defense behind her was solid, especially outfielders Anastasia Brunner and Brooklyn Hedricks," Dos Pueblos head coach Mike Gerken said.
Dos Pueblos found itself down 1-0 in the fourth, but Kacey Hurley stole home to tie the game up. One batter later, Vereniki Maniadi singled in Zella Cassidy to take a 2-1 lead.
Clovis then answered with two runs in the top of the fifth to regain the lead, but Anastasia Brunner blasted a solo homer to lead off the bottom half and tie the game up at 3-3.
"Stasia's homer to tie it in game one is just the thing we expect from her," Gerken said. "She always seems to deliver when we need it on offense or defense."
That score held until the 12th inning, when Clovis knocked a go-ahead single that proved to be the game-winner.
The second game of the day also featured strong pitching, as Dos Pueblos' Kaitlyn Ashby squared off against Righetti's Emily Fortin. Both pitchers went the distance.
The Chargers broke up a scoreless tie in the fourth when Maniadi doubled in Cassidy to take a 1-0 lead.
The Dos Pueblos defense made several strong plays, including a putout from the outfield by Anastasia Brunner in the fourth, but Righetti broke through with a bases-loaded single to score two runs in the fifth.
The 2-1 score held as Fortin slammed the door in the sixth and seventh to give Righetti the win.
"Kaitlyn Ashby pitched a great game in game two, but we just couldn't get her any run support today," Gerken said. "Brooklyn Hedricks and Aubrey Carreno had some really good at-bats, as did freshman Vereniki Maniadi, who is proving she can do some damage on the varsity level."
The Chargers (1-4) will be on the road against Buena for their Channel League opener on Tuesday.
