Werder Bremen are in advanced talks with Arsenal over the loan signing of goalkeeper Karl Hein.
The Estonia international, who made 31 appearances in La Liga last season on loan at Real Valladolid, joined Arsenal in 2019 but has made just one senior appearance for the club -- a Carabao Cup tie against Brighton & Hove Albion in November 2022.
Hein signed a contract extension in 2024 which runs through until 2026, with an option for a further 12 months.
The north London club preferred a permanent exit for the 23-year-old, who they value at between £3million and £5m, but are now in discussions over a temporary move to the German Bundesliga side.
Werder sold first-choice goalkeeper Michael Zetterer, who played all 34 league matches last term, to Eintracht Frankfurt this summer and are in the market for a new No 1.
Hein is behind David Raya and summer signing Kepa Arrizabalaga in Mikel Arteta's squad, which also contains England under-19 international Tommy Setford.
Newly-promoted La Liga club Levante had also been monitoring Hein, who has played 39 times at international level for Estonia.
Werder, who finished eighth in the Bundesliga last season, begin their 2025-26 campaign at Frankfurt on Saturday.
