TSR and Dodge/SRT brought home the 2023 Funny Car World Championship with Hagan.
Tony Stewart's NHRA roots just got a little deeper.
A three-time NASCAR Cup champion as a driver and one-time NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing champion as an owner, Stewart today announced a multi-year contract extension for its NHRA effort with Dodge/SRT.
Stewart is in his second year racing in the NHRA Top Fuel class, having replaced wife Leah Pruett at the start of the 2024 season. While Stewart is still seeking his first Top Fuel win, he did capture the North Central Division Top Alcohol championship last season.
TSR this year will field Stewart, as well as four-time Funny Car champion Matt Hagan. Hagan drives in the Funny Car class and gave the team its first championship in 2023.
The announcement came today at Gainesville, Fla., site of this weekend's season-opening NHRA event.
TSR and Dodge/SRT first teamed up in 2022.
"To have racing partners like Dodge/SRT, Mopar and Direct Connection has been a great asset for our TSR team, as well as the entire drag-racing sport," said Stewart. Hagan is entering his 18th season in a Dodge/SRT Funny Car. He is the first Funny Car driver to break the four-second barrier (3.995-second run in 2011) and 3.80 seconds (3.799 in 2015) and to reach 330 mph (2015) and 335 mph (2016) at 1,000 feet. He won the 2023 title in a TSR Direct Connection Dodge/SRT Hellcat Funny Car.
