'He has a people-first perspective and coalition-building skills to make progress on the issues that matter.'
August Mangeney's bid to flip a House seat in Palm Beach County blue again now has the backing of five fellow Democrats.
Sens. Lori Berman, Shevrin Jones and Tina Scott Polsky, and Reps. Dan Daley and Kelly Skidmore are all endorsing him for House District 93.
All represent districts that abut, or overlap with, HD 93.
"August is a listener and a doer. He'll work with local leaders to tackle insurance costs, support our teachers, and protect our water resources. HD 93 will be well-served by August's steady leadership and integrity," said Berman, who was elected Senate Democratic Leader in April.
Polsky said Mangeney, who filed to run against freshman Republican Rep. Anne Gerwig in May, "understands what is at stake in this election and is prepared to be the solutions-oriented leader we need in Tallahassee."
"From public safety to affordability," she said, "he'll bring a pragmatic approach to the Legislature and deliver for Palm Beach County."
Like Mangeney, Berman, Polsky and Daley are lawyers. Skidmore is the CEO of the Palm Beach County Medical Society.
Jones, the National Director of Development at COOP Careers and a past Chair of the Miami-Dade County Democratic Party, said Mangeney "will be a strong partner" for South Florida communities.
"He has a people-first perspective and coalition-building skills to make progress on the issues that matter: schools, affordability, and opportunity," he said.
Mangeney, 44, began his legal career as a legislative aide to Palm Beach County Commissioner Maria Sachs when she served in the Senate, drafting bills, analyzing legislation and meeting with lawmakers, policy advocates and constituents.
His civic involvements include working on the Fair Districts campaign that successfully challenged partisan gerrymandering in the state. He's also a past President of the Margate Democratic Club.
Today, he is of counsel to the Gobel Flakes LLC law firm and lives in Lake Worth with his wife and their two children.
His campaign said his focuses, if elected, will be on fairness, accountability and opportunity for working families throughout the district.
Of the five new endorsements, Mangeney said he is "honored to earn the support of leaders I admire."
"HD 93 deserves a representative who will listen, bring people together, and get results for working families," he said in a statement. "I'm here to fight for strong public schools, safer neighborhoods, and an economy that works for everyone."
The race to represent HD 93, spanning Wellington, Greenacres, parts of Lake Worth Beach and a section of unincorporated Palm Beach County, is likely to be among the most watched contests in the 2026 election cycle.
Gerwig, a former Mayor of Wellington, won the seat in November by just 354 after a mandatory recount amid a statewide GOP wave driven by President Donald Trump. Democrats expect to rebound in 2026 and view HD 93 as a strong flip opportunity.
So far, the HD 93 race is a two-person contest. The deadline for Senate and House candidates to qualify for the 2026 election is June 12.
The Primary is Aug. 18, followed by the General Election on Nov. 3.
