EUREKA -- Woodford County's months-long search for the county's first IT technician is back to square one.
Just before the county board's monthly meeting Tuesday, the person who was offered the IT tech position informed board member Dave Meinhold that he was no longer interested in the job.
Ben Wagner was going to be paid $40.25 per hour plus benefits.
"Ben's decision was understandable," Meinhold said. "It's difficult to keep someone interested in a job for five or six months after being interviewed."
The county has an agreement with Heart Technologies of East Peoria to supply an IT tech for two days a week. That agreement will continue.
While county employees are happy with the IT tech from Heart, "some don't think we're getting enough IT service, and I understand that," said Meinhold, a member of an an hoc committee formed to consider the hiring on a county IT tech.
