At 425 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Adair, or 15 miles southwest of Guthrie Center, moving north at 45 mph.
70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail are possible with this storm. Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Florence, Tennant, Ralston, Inglewood, Nishna Bend Recreation Area, Winslow, Czechland Lake, Arlington, Historical Village Welcome Center, Narrows River Park, Underwood, Benson, Standing Bear Lake, Glenwood, Magnolia, Emerson, and Woodcliff.
Severe Thunderstorm Watches have been issued for a portion of Siouxland through this evening.
Watches are in effect for: Stanton, Cuming, Burt, Thurston, Harrison, Monona, Crawford, Sac, and Calhoun counties in southern Siouxland through 10 PM Friday night.
Main threats with any severe storms this afternoon into early overnight will be wind gusts 60-70+ mph, with isolated gusts up to 90 mph, and up to ping pong ball (1.5'' diameter) hail. An isolated tornado or two is possible, but the threat is low.
Stay weather aware this evening and stay with KCAU 9 and the KCAU 9 weather team for the latest updates and any additional watches and/or warnings that may be issued.
A cold front arriving Friday evening will bring showers, storms, and even the potential of our first severe weather event of the season to Siouxland.
Scattered severe storms are possible, especially through eastern/southeastern Siouxland where an enhanced (level 3 of 5) risk of severe weather is in place. This includes Tekamah, Denison, Ida Grove, Sac City, and Cherokee.
A slight (level 2 of 5) of severe weather is in place along and near the I-29 corridor. This includes Wayne, Norfolk, the Sioux City metro, Le Mars, Estherville, Spencer, and Orange City.
Elsewhere, a marginal (level 1 of 5) risk of severe weather is in place through far western Siouxland.
The primary threats are 60-70+ mph wind gusts and isolated large hail up to quarter size (1 inch diameter). An isolated tornado can't be ruled out entirely, but the threat is minimal.
