A 78-year-old driver has died days after hitting a car from behind that was stopped at a red traffic signal, officials said.
The crash happened last Wednesday at 8:47 p.m. in the borough of Tenafly. A car was approaching the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Riveredge Road when it stopped at a red light, borough police said in a statement.
Another vehicle failed to stop and hit the car from behind, authorities said.
The driver of the second vehicle, a Cresskill resident, suffered serious injuries and died at Hackensack University Medical Center several days later, officials said.
The driver of the car that had stopped, a 40-year-old man from Englewood, sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention, police said.
