England and Albania already know their finishing spots in World Cup qualifying ahead of Sunday's showdown in Tirana.
England's place at the 2026 World Cup has already been confirmed ahead of its clash against Albania as the qualifying campaign rounds to a close on Sunday. The Three Lions have won seven from seven in UEFA qualifying Group K and can put the finishing touches on a perfect campaign with victory in Tirana.
Runner-up Albania can no longer overcome the seven-point gap between it and England, but at the same time, second place is guaranteed regardless of Sunday's outcome. That means a play-off against one of the other second-place finishers or UEFA Nations League qualifiers awaits in the second round before it can potentially lock down a spot in North America next year.
For that reason, both teams may opt to rest their most prized assets and look to experiment with some of their respective second-string stars this weekend. England has won each of the seven meetings between these teams to date, hoping to round off qualifying with possibly the best record of any European team advancing to the World Cup.
