Insider Provides Plethora Of Updates On Possible Kraken Trade Candidates

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman provided several updates on multiple Seattle Kraken trade candidates on his podcast, 32 Thoughts.

With the deadline approaching on Friday and the Kraken still very much on the outside of the playoff race, it's expected that they will offload a few veteran forwards in hopes of acquiring young talent or draft capital.

On the podcast, Friedman mentioned that the team is more inclined to trade Brandon Tanev and they still hold hope that they could re-sign Yanni Gourde. Both forwards are pending UFAs with fairly large markets. Gourde's health has hampered the interest, but as he nears a return, teams might have their interest sparked again.

Friedman also mentioned that players like Jaden Schwartz, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Andre Burakovsky, Jamie Oleksiak and Jared McCann could be moved if the price is right. Each player has at least one year left on their contract beyond this season.

Friedman also reiterated the earlier reports about McCann, which state that the team is not actively shopping him but are open to taking calls about a potential deal, but the price is quite high.

Shane Wright, Matty Beniers and Kaapo Kakko have shown signs of possibly becoming the faces of the franchise and trading older veterans to open up more ice time for the three young forwards to play could be very beneficial in the long run.

Teams have also called about the availability of Adam Larsson, but it's hard to envision the Kraken wanting to move him. He's a veteran defenseman and is considered a leader in the locker room who they just signed to a four-year, $5.25M contract. Without many defensive prospects close to earning a call-up, keeping Larsson around to help mentor Ryker Evans and others would be more beneficial than trading him.
