Five items about the Mahomet-Seymour football team coach Jon Adkins and three of his players -- Noah Daniels, Ryan Pruitt and Ollie Smith -- shared with The News-Gazette before the Bulldogs kick off the season on Aug. 29 at Morton:
The best part of playing a home game at Frank Dutton Field is ...Well for starters, I like grass better than turf. I just hate hitting my head on the turf. I just like the atmosphere of it. Not really the field itself, but just our student section -- they can get pretty rowdy. Just the atmosphere of it.
Mahomet-Seymour senior Ryan Pruitt
The best Mahomet-Seymour football uniform combination is ...That orange jersey is the worst thing. I've got to have like six people help me get it on and off. It's terrible. Honestly through, my favorite uniform is white out, all white, for sure. Also, whenever we do pink out, like last year away at Richwoods, all white with the pink socks is probably my favorite.
Mahomet-Seymour senior Ollie Smith
The Mahomet-Seymour football player to follow on social media is ...Probably Cody (Moen). Maybe not like to follow, but he's got a lot of energy and he's something ... he does bring a lot of energy, and there's a lot of guys on the offense that bring a lot of energy, like Josh Craig brings a lot of energy, too.
Mahomet-Seymour senior Noah Daniels
The most serious Mahomet-Seymour football player is ...We've got a lot of personality on this team. I'd say Owen Smysor. He's very monotone.
Ryan Pruitt
The Mahomet-Seymour football players who don't get enough recognition are ...I could go a number of ways with this. One, I would say, probably Wade Manuel or Owen Seymour. So, I played freshman football with them, and they didn't get really get a lot of playing time until this year, and they're getting in the rotation a lot.
Those are guys you see at practice every day on scout team, making those insane catches, you know, getting everybody hyped up and stuff like that, and they always keep their energy up, even though before this year, they knew that they probably weren't going to see the field as much. But they bide their time. They know their roles now, and I think they're going to be awesome for us.
