Music tour to happen through popular Albuquerque spots this Saturday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- 200 musicians, 20 concerts are happening at 20 of Albuquerque's famous hot spots this Saturday.

"You have musicians on horseback riding up the bosque trail. You have a cello floating down the Rio Grande. You have musicians on the West Mesa at the black volcano," said Raven Chacon, a local composer and artist.

Chacon is the mastermind behind Tiguex.

"For this one, I wanted to actually make a map of the city. So it was an invitation with the tamarind Institute on campus to make a lithograph inspired by different maps of our city," said Chacon.

He said this music-filled day is going to highlight the things one would see on everyday streets in Albuquerque.

"In the morning we have a trumpet player on the mountain peak, and then soon after that, we have a trombonist in a hot air balloon circling the North Valley," said Chacon.

From the peaceful clouds above to the noises from the low riders on Central.

"We'll be having low riders drive back and forth on Central blasting noise, we'll have people down at the glass graveyard, down off Second Street," Chacon said.

The goal is to highlight our city's rich history and culture through some of New Mexicans most talented musicians.

"All the way from the volcanoes, the mountain peak, the river, but also talking about, you know, our colonial history and the Indigenous history, and also industry that's happening in Albuquerque," said Chacon.

Chacon said the concerts will continue throughout the day, rain or shine. You can check out that list here.
