A Christian preacher has been handed a Community Protection Notice (CPN) by Surrey Police which prohibits him from "causing annoyance, upset and distress" to the people of Surrey and Sussex.
The preacher, who is known as Ollie Sabatelli on social media, was handed the notice by officers in Guildford town centre on October 3, after he breached the warning that police had given him in the week before.
The notice prohibits him from "causing annoyance, upset and distress to the local community and business of Surrey and Sussex" and also bans him from using any amplification in any public places.
The force has told Surrey Live that the order is "not related to the content being said, but the volume and the nature of its amplification".
Mr Sabatelli is a Christian preacher from the Brighton area, who made his name on social media and in the South East by preaching the Bible in town centres, and engaging with the public on matters of religion.
He now boasts around 215,000 followers on TikTok, and an additional 181,000 on Instagram, describing himself in his Bio as a "servant of Christ" who is "preparing the way" for his return.
Making his name first preaching in Brighton, in September, Mr Sabatelli turned to Guildford to deliver his message. In the month since, he has garnered millions of views on social media broadcasting him speaking the word of the Bible in the Surrey town with dozens of videos of people sharing their support for his message, but also just as many videos displaying a lack of support for his message in Guildford.
On October 3, Mr Sabatelli uploaded a video to his social media which depicted a Surrey Police officer handing him a Community Protection Notice.
The officer is recorded saying to the man that he had been previously warned by police about his behaviour which is "causing harassment, alarm and distress" and that he had now breached this warning.
The preacher was further warned by the officer, who told him that he would be arrested if he were to breach the notice.
In the video, Ollie questions the officer, referring to the crowd that had gathered behind them, and asking the officer "do these people look distressed?" and continuing by addressing the crowd saying "the world is going to see the persecution that is happening to Christians in the UK".
Officers gave Mr Sabatelli five minutes to stop preaching using a microphone and speaker, which he obliged, and following this began shouting his words instead.
In the days since, Mr Sabatelli has continued to preach in Guildford town centre, without the use of a microphone or speaker.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police told Surrey Live: "We are aware there's been some concerns around a man causing annoyance, upset and distress to the local community and businesses of Guildford Town Centre.
"Officers have spoken to the man and issued him with a Community Protection Notice which prohibits him from causing annoyance, upset and distress to the local community and business of Surrey and Sussex.
"He is also prohibited from using any amplification in any public place in the county of Surrey or Sussex (this list is not exclusive but includes microphone, loud hailer and loudspeaker)."
"The order is not related to the content being said, but the volume and the nature of its amplification."
