Akshay Oberoi Reveals Dream Role, Future Collaborations, and Career-Defining Moments

"That role in Trishul -- that's the dream," Akshay said. "It's such a powerful character, and Amitabh Bachchan's performance is unforgettable. I would love to collaborate with him one day." Beyond that dream, Oberoi also expressed a deep desire to work with some of the most influential directors in Indian cinema today, listing Sriram Raghavan, Anurag Kashyap, Mani Ratnam, and Karan Johar as creatives he hopes to team up with in the near future.

Looking back at his breakthrough role, Akshay credits Gurgaon (2017) as the film that changed how people saw him. "People knew I grew up in New Jersey, so to play a brutal Jatt from Haryana who speaks Haryanvi -- it was a challenge. But working with someone like Pankaj Tripathi really pushed me. That role was intense and career-defining for me."

The actor also spoke warmly of his co-stars, especially Sanya Malhotra, with whom he stars in the upcoming Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari alongside Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. "I'd love to work with Sanya again. She's incredible. I'm also very interested in working with Wamiqa Gabbi -- she's one of the most exciting talents out there -- and of course, Tabu. That would be an honor."

Oberoi recently appeared in The Broken News Season 2, currently streaming on ZEE5, and is part of the ensemble cast of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grownups, starring Yash and scheduled for release in March 2026. With a growing filmography that reflects both range and ambition, Akshay Oberoi continues to cement his place as one of the most intriguing actors of his generation.
