Kevin Spacey's Hollywood Comeback Faces Financial Hurdles After Legal Battles
Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey is now effectively homeless. He revealed his current living situation in a new interview with The Telegraph. Spacey lost his Baltimore home due to massive legal costs.
These financial struggles stem from years of fighting sexual misconduct allegations. The actor has been living in hotels and temporary rentals. He described his financial state as "not great."
Spacey stated his costs over the last seven years have been "astronomical." He said he has had very little money coming in. Everything he owned is now in storage.
Bankruptcy has been discussed as a real possibility. His acting work largely disappeared after allegations surfaced in 2017. According to Reuters coverage of his court cases, he was acquitted in a 2023 London trial.
He was also found not liable in a 2022 civil suit with Anthony Rapp. Despite these legal victories, the career damage was severe. The work offers stopped almost completely.
Spacey claims he is in touch with powerful people who want to put him back to work. He believes his Hollywood return "will happen in its right time." The industry, he suggests, is waiting for a respected director to give permission.
He specifically mentioned Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino. A phone call from such figures would end his unofficial blacklisting. For now, he goes where any work is available.
He recently performed a one-man show in Cyprus. He says he has used this time for self-reflection. He feels the public has largely been on his side throughout the ordeal.
